My stepfather often told me, when I was being unreasonable: "Why don't you broaden your pitifully narrow horizons." This blog reflects my desire to do just that. It involves tales of my adventures in extraordinary places but also ordinary places made extraordinary by the people encountered and the food.

Fairbankans make pizza that would make an Italian proud!

Last weekend I was fortunate enough to be invited to a pizza party. It was amazing. The couple who organized it had built a rock and clay oven in their back yard and made everything from scratch. I think even my friends in Italy would approve.

We concluded the evening with a cold beverage at the Big I, "The most Irish and oldest bar in Fairbanks, Alaska". Excellent!
